well the leaves are beginning to fall and you know what that means. It's harder to police the yard for dog turds.
Tuesday evening I picked Sean up and we went to Peoria to have dinner with Alan at the Hoffbrauhouse. The food was great. I had saurbratten, Sean had rouladin, and Alan had mixed sausage plate. They had such cute little place mats that I asked the waitress for a dozen for our up coming German dinner.
Wednesday morning I had my 3d appointment for the cyst on my finger. I am scheduled for an appointment for November.
Wednesday evening I went to a meeting of the Legion Riders to discuss our German Dinner on Saturday.
Thursday evening we had a brief storm so I walked the dogs before it came then I watched the Scarlett Letter

Friday evening I ate at the VFW and had shrimp. I then wen to New Salem's Candlelight tours. I wore my camp dress without the apron and my cap with laplettes. I carried my battery operated lantern. Of course, a few of the guests thought I worked there but I am a guest just in period dress. I really thought I could see all the log cabins in one hour but was there till closing. There was nice music and of course I bumped into some like minded reenactors.
Saturday morning I car pooled with George to Quincy for the Quarterly Advisory council at the Veterans Home. Then in the afternoon I put on my drindl for our American Legion German Dinner. I brought some decor that I had around like my steins on a tray. We had a great turn out.
Sunday I went to Mass. The lady in front of me fell ill and had to step out. I escorted her blind husband to Communion as I've seen her do many times. I think she had a migraine or hot flash or something and returned later. I tried my best to maintain continuity.
Later I went to Quincy for a Civil War concert in period dress. The weather did NOT predict rain but it did. The rain was light but enough to ruin instruments. The concert was moved indoors and seating was more cramped. The music was authentic Civil War. It was fortunate that Rich could open the mansion to me and a few select close friends for a private Sunday tour. There is an online tour at: http://www.adamscohistory.org/html/mansion.html
Rich also knew that the Christmas Civil War Ball would be Dec 21st. I found the event on facebook.
"Celebrate the holidays as
the St. Louis did 150 years ago. The Independent Silver Band will
provide music for the Ball from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Deborah Hyland will
provide dance instruction workshop on the popular dance steps of the
1860s from 9:00 to 11:00 am and call the dances during the ball. This
event is free and open to the public. 19th century attire is encouraged
but not required."

That's me in the right front in my blue tier day dress. Since this was a day event, and a mature woman would not have worn short sleeves, I wore my day dress. The draw back is that my dance dresses are a tad shorter so I won't trip on the hem. I used a wider hoop to help lift.
I dropped off my camp dress and lime green ball gown at the cleaners. She asked the magic question: "Do you qualify for senior discount?" I asked for her to define that and I did.
About time to put a quilt on the bed.
Brrr! Now just think about those that have to manage in a tent city!!! God Bless our troops! Got Bless the refugees.
